Personal Statement :
|
Do worries and fears interfere with your daily life, relationships, or sleep? Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by stress? Does your outward success mask your inner unhappiness? Do you feel like a "fake" and worry that others will find out the "real" you? Do you find yourself doing well at the office but become submissive in relationships at home?
With over 17 years experience with women and families, I can help you achieve a sense of well-being and greater satisfaction with yourself, your relationships, and your life. I have extensive experience treating crises, depression, grief and loss due to divorce, death, serious illness, and issues related to Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, and families with someone in prison.
Are you struggling with behavioral and/or educational issues related to raising an autistic or asperger child?
I assist families with the challenges and successes in parenting such children, co-developing a firm, gentle structure, so all members of the family experience consistency, predictability, a sense of belonging and (some) harmony. I have both general education and special education credentials.
Womens Groups: Do you want to understand what drives you into difficult relationships and what you can do about it? Are you good at doing for others but not good at nurturing yourself? Work through issues of emotional intimacy, guilt shame and anger. Learn to identify and communicate your wants and needs. Learn to be an "I" and a "We."
Taking the first step toward getting help is often the most difficult. Please don't hesitate to call or email.

In addition to a thriving practice, I enjoy writing and giving presentations (CAMFT; Creativity & Madness). I am a registered group psychotherapist, facilitate women's groups and a new group for parents who have a child on the autistic spectrum.
I also work with grief and loss whether pertaining to death, illness, the loss of the "perfect" child, or related to having someone in prison.
The deeper level "work" centers on finding balance, wholeness and creating a healthy relationship with the true self.
My private practice is in Encino and I have served as adjunct faculty at Phillips Graduate Institute. My articles have appeared in The Los Angeles Psychologist, The California Therapist, and other professional publications. I recently completed a book, Hell's Angels: The Transformative Journeys of Women Who Love Lifers and Death Row Inmates.
